Touch-A-Truck

Raising money for a great local cause while having family fun in the meantime!

Next Event Date: October 18th, 2025 10am-2pm (Nov. 1st rain date)

About the Event

Touch-A-Truck is an annual charity event sponsored by Skips Wastewater Services to benefit a local charity. Recently, all event proceeds are donated to Hockanum Valley Community Council (HVCC) located in Vernon, CT.

At touch-a-truck, local businesses bring equipment from tractors to construction machinery to dump trucks to Skips Wastewater Services at 21 Courtney Dr, Ellington, CT. Families and children are invited to come see this equipment up close, and even sit in the drivers seat. In addition to seeing countless times of vehicles, Skips has other activities to enjoy as well.

Some of the activities you can expect at Touch a Truck:

  • Face painting
  • Large sand box with toy trucks
  • Arts & crafts
  • Basketball court
  • Food trucks / ice cream trucks
  • Farm Animals

Please contact Megan – mj@skipswastewater.com if your business would like to participate or if youd like to make a donation.

      2023

skips wastewater services touch a truck 2023 family kid event

With many rainy weekends this fall, we were fortunate to be able to reschedule our event to the last week of October – we were blessed with an 80-degree day with sunny skies! Skips had its largest turnout for Touch-a-Truck to date – 1,000+ attendees enjoyed the equipment and activities at our Ellington location.

We were overjoyed to present the proceeds from our 6th annual Touch-A-Truck event to HVCC! With donations from participating local businesses, attendees, and very generous donations from friends of Skips Wastewater, Jason & Shelley Yerke and Mike Williams, we collected over $33,000 to support HVCC’s mission.

Despite the rainy weather, our 2022 Touch-a-Truck event was a great success! We were able to come together and collect the largest event donation to date – just over $10,000 for HVCC! We cannot express how thankful we are to be fortunate enough to assist HVCC in this capacity.

“You have helped brighten the lives of others in our community. Every service we provide, every life that we impact, is all due to your belief in a better tomorrow. With you standing by our side, there is no limit to our ability to make a positive change in our community.” – David O’Rourke, HVCC CEO
